A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished. Proverbs 28:20
One thing the pandemic has taught me is the things I thought I needed before the pandemic, I found out during the pandemic these things were not necessary. “Can you say cutting back?” With
When I did go to the grocery store I found myself buying what I needed not what I wanted. I found myself buying things in bulk so I wouldn’t have to run out as quickly. The store shelves were emptying fast. When I normally buy one big jar of something, I find myself buying multiple jars, one package of paper towels I‘m buying cases of paper towels, and toilet paper. Not one case of water multiple cases of water.
It’s interesting how we only realize the things we’ve taken for granted when we can no longer access them.
I took a long hard look at how I was spending money. I had to cut back on my spending, the things I liked to do I couldn’t do as much or not at all. Even after the pandemic, when we were listening to the news I found out that big corporations were raising prices on everything from groceries to gas, to clothes, pet food, and snacks. You name it, and the price has gone up. Not only were prices going up. We were paying more for less.
“It’s one thing to raise prices but also to reduce the packaging on food products is so wrong.”
It’s not like these corporations were hurting for money. Their greed gene kicked in.
What’s A Consumer To Do?
Hello, discount stores, here we come. The stores that we used to think were not quality stores started looking like a money saver to me. They sold the same thing for a lot less. “They weren’t named brand products, but if you were looking to save money and trying to feed your family these discount stores are a diamond in the ruff. “
According to Sisters Of AARP
In a study from the Harris Poll, in 2023, about half of American consumers either searched for discounts when shopping or bought household basics at a dollar store. Other habits we engaged in to save money included skipping social events, reducing transportation costs, sharing passwords for streaming services, and joining buy-nothing groups. About 81% of Americans used at least one money-saving strategy last year.
Cars
“Due to Covid.”19 the average car costs $48,000-up almost $6,000 from 2 years ago and about $10,000 since 2020 according to Kelly Blue Book. Once again the Covid-19 Pandemic has caused the market to become more complicated by disruptions and manufacturing. Buyers have continued to gravitate to pricy SUVs and, some automakers have discontinued making lower-priced cars in recent years.
“It’s Not Just The Cost Of Things That Is Increasing.”

Killing them with respect, and kindness. A few weeks ago, I had a small interaction with one of my coworkers that I barely know. She was speaking to some other coworkers when I added my 2 cents. I must admit she wasn’t speaking to me and did not hesitate to let me know in so many words. I politley told her to have a nice day, and moved on. I was wrong for butting in, but I thought she went overboard in her reaction towards me.
I wasn’t mad, I kept my cool and I went back to work and didn’t think about it for the rest of the day. Later on that night at the house, I thought about it and knew I was wrong. A few days later she and another coworker was in the office of the executive director when I walked in, I was asked to be there. Still keeping my cool, I saw her and immediately said Good morning ladies, and left it at that.
“A day ago, I saw her again in passing I again immediately said good morning. She responded with a good morning.”
When she said good morning to my good morning I knew that we would be good. I am not saying we are now besties, or even friends. What I am saying when you show respect and kindness, you will get respect and kindness regardless of the circumstances. “AKA” keeping your cool, don’t take it seriously.
You must not take what one person or people who don’t live with you, or people you don’t love seriously! They are just one person. No biggie/No big deal. You don’t sleep with these people, so it’s not that serious. Turn the tables in order to keep your peace. Kill them with kindness in a respectful manner.
If a person doesn’t like you and you have to see them all during the day like at work or someplace like that. Keep being respectful and kind. “Ware them down with kindness, sooner or later they will come around.”
I am sincere when I speak, I believe she felt that. She still might not like me, but she acknowledge my respect for her and felt my kindness in one sentence good morning.
I don’t care about what people think about me or whether they like me or not. I give less then a damm. Because I was wrong in this situation by butting in a conversation when I wasn’t suppose to and we work together, I felt it was necessary for me to show decorum, respect, kindness, and sincerity. People are not stupid they can feel and see if you are a straight shooter. I believe she did. And now we are good.
It’s all about killing them with respect and kindness no matter what, be the bigger person, they’ll come around.
